Hello I am Amy. I live with my partner and son just outside of Ashburton, Devon. As well as being a mother I am also a Doula, practitioner of Shiatsu and Abdominal Therapy. I specialise in working with people who suffer from chronic symptoms such as pain/depression/anxiety/IBS/brain fog, to mention just a few.

For many years my work has been informed by my interest in self enquiry, meditation, movement, the body, and a waking up to the reality of what life is presenting.

In my early 20ā€™s I was told that I would be in pain for the rest of my life after having an MRI on my lower back. I was devastated and felt my life had fallen apart.  Every movement was restricted, I could no longer dance, or run or get out of bed freely. Then one day I read a book called Healing Back Pain by Dr John E Sano and since then my back pain has vanished. All I needed was to understand how my brain works, and realise what was actually causing my pain was not a structural problem but neural pathways that had got stuck in a fear response.
This experience has transformed the way I work with my clients, bringing in a deeper understanding of some of the latest research in neuroscience, emotions and how to calm the fear response in our brain.

Around the time I was suffering from back pain I was studying at The Bristol School of Shiatsu. Shiatsu gave me the tools to be in presence with another. It taught me how to stay in the deep unknown. It taught me how to witness and how to listen to a deeper language than words. It was my gateway into working with the body, the mind and with presence.

Along side this I have been working with women, the menstrual cycle and birth. In 2019, I trained as a Doula with the Sacred Birthing School, and then in Abdominal Therapy later in 2019. Not long after my trainings I became pregnant and embarked on the epic journey of carrying a child in my womb, giving birth and becoming a mother.

Through massage and enquiry I offer support for people wanting to conceive, people who have lost a baby, post abortion support, menstrual issues or simply a desire to connect more deeply with your abdomen and womb.

After my own experience of healing after a traumatic birth and a 3rd degree tear I am passionate about supporting mothers in the days and weeks post birth. This is a time that is massively undervalued in our culture. Luckily it is becoming more and more understood but we still have a long way to go. In remembering how to support and nurture new families we are supporting the next generation to grow up feeling held and safe. What is more important than giving our children a solid ground to thrive from, and mothers a solid ground to mother from!

If the mother is held then so is her child

Ultimately, beyond any training or name on what I do, I am in service to love in the most deep and yet simplest of ways; love that is accessed by surrendering and opening to presence in each unfolding moment.

Please be in touch if you want to discuss anything or have any questions. Iā€™m more than happy to talk.
